Câu hỏi đuôi: Question-tags
1. Luôn dùng đại từ nhân xưng chủ ngữ và dạng phủ định viết tắt cho đuôi.
Eg. Lan liked it, didn’t Lan? (X) Lan liked it, didn’t she? (v)
2. Đối với động từ to be "Am": Chúng ta không dùng “am not I” mà phải dùng “aren’t I” cho câu hỏi đuôi.
Eg. I am wrong, amn’t I? (X) I am wrong, aren’t I? (v)
3. Chủ ngữ của lời dẫn là: someone, somebody, no one, nobody, anyone, anybody, everyone, everybody, these, those, thì dùng chủ ngữ “they” cho đuôi.
Eg. No one liked it, did they?
4. Chủ ngữ của lời dẫn là: something, nothing, anything, everything, this, that, thì dùng chủ ngữ “it” cho đuôi.
Eg. Something didn’t meet your need, did it?
S + V + O, trợ động từ + đại từ?
5. Nếu ở mệnh đề dẫn có chứa các từ no/ neither/ not/ never/ hardly/ rarely/ scarcely/ seldom/ barely/ little/ few/… thi ta dùng đuôi khảng định (bởi các từ đã nêu có nghĩa phủ định).
Eg. He hardly understands what I say, does he?
6. Let’s V, shall we?
Eg. Let’s eat out tonight, shall we?
7. Don’t/ Never V, will you?
Eg. Never do that again, will you?
8. V, will/would/can/could/may you?
Eg. Do me a favor, will you?
9. Trên thực tế còn nhiều hình thức câu hỏi đuôi đặc biệt với had better/must/câu cảm thán, nhưng với khuôn khổ yêu câu của bài thi TN THPT chúng ta không đề cập đến.
