Prepositions - Giới từ
1. Prepositions of time: Giới từ chỉ thời gian
a. at: chỉ điểm thời gian, dịp lễ hội: at 8.00; at noon; at night; at Christmas; etc.
b. on: chỉ thứ, ngày: on Tuesday; on Mondays; on December 1st; on 14 April 1990; etc.
c. in: chỉ khoảng gian, tháng/ năm/ buổi: in the morning; in 1999; in the past; in the future; etc.
d. between/ during/ within/ before/ after/ from…to/ by/ since/ for/ etc.: được dùng với các ngữ cảnh cụ thể (ghi nhớ).
Ví dụ: 1. We often have English lessons______ Mondays.

2. ______ the Civil War, he worked for a local newspaper.

2. Prepositions of places: Giới từ chỉ nơi chốn
a. at: chỉ sự hiện diện/ có mặt tại: at work; at school; at home; at the cinema; etc.
b. on: chỉ sự tồn tại trên bề mặt: on the table; on top; on duty; on the way; etc.
c. in: chỉ sự tồn tại trong không gian xác định: in the sky; in the world; in America; in Hanoi; etc.
d. between/ from/ to/ above/ under/ opposite/ behind/ beneath/ etc: được dùng với các ngữ cảnh cụ thể (ghi nhớ).

Chú ý: Giới từ là mảng kiến thức rất quan trọng nhưng đồng thời rất khó. Để làm chủ phần giới từ, người học phải luyện tập nhiều. Luôn giữ bên mình cuốn sổ tay, ghi lại những ngữ giới từ và luyện tập để ghi nhớ cách sử dụng của chúng.
