3. An English teenager is going to stay with your family for two months on a cultural homestay program. Complete a letter to inform him/ her of the rules in your family.
One important rule in my family is that every member of the family has to keep his or her room tidy. My brother and I have to make our beds every morning, and clean the floor and windows twice a week.
Another important rule is that my brother and I must be home before 10 p.m. My parents are very strict and believe that setting a curfew will help us become responsible, and stay safe and healthy.
The third important rule is that we mustn’t invite friends to stay overnight. This is not only our rule, but also the rule for all the people living in the building.
Model 1: Every family has its own rules. Mine has a few.
First, everybody has to do their share of the household chores. For example, my mother cooks meals everyday, my father mends things around the house in his free time, my elder sister washes clothes and I usually clean the house. My sister and I have to prepare meals. I think so. Because, my mother cooks meals and we should help her. It is a service which we express deep gratitute to mom. And my father will be happy if the meals are ready on the table by the time he gets home.
Second, during the school year, I`m not allowed to watch TV or talk on the phone. My parents don`t allow me to access the internet for amusement. In fact, I miss them, but I know my parents want me to concentrate on studying. It`s good for me.
TALKING ABOUT FAMILY RULES
Next, whenever problems come up, we must discuss them frankly and find solutions quickly, or before making an important decision. I had to be allowed by my parents.
The most important rule is frankness. All members have to speak honestly so that we can believe in each other.
All in all, family rules are necessary.
Model 2: Each family has its own rules. My family also has some rules. Family rules help family members understand each other and improve ourselves better. Every morning, my mother must get up early to cook and prepare the costumes for the whole family. then my parents go to work, my two younger sisters go to school. At dinner, we just gathered to tell each other what happened during the day. After dinner, everyone do their own work. During the school year, we are not allowed to watch TV and always self-study.
In my family, learning is important. However each member must share the household chores together. My parents want us not to go out after dark because they thought the outside is very dangerous. My two younger sisters are small so both I and parents must help them more. Thanks to the rules of the family that we are educated in a discipline. I love my family.
