Edison attended school for only a few months. He was removed from school, because he could not pay attention to his teacher.
He had learning disability.
At age 12 he contracted scarlet fever, which caused the loss of hearing in one ear and a severe diminishment in the other.
He had hearing loss.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827)
Beethoven started to lose his hearing when he was 26 years old.

By the last decade of his life it was completely gone.
