Sợ anh ăn mất trâu nhà thì sao?
Anh cho ta trói chặt vào
Rồi ta về lấy. Thế nào? Ưng không?”
Hổ nghe nói cũng bằng lòng
Người liền lấy sợi dây thừng trói ngay
Trưa hè cày giữa cánh đồng
Lâu lâu người đánh roi dồn bước trâu
Hổ lên tiếng hỏi: “Tại sao
Trâu to mà phải cúi đầu chịu roi?”
Trâu bèn đủng đỉnh trả lời:
“Ta không có được như người, trí khôn”
Hổ quay lại hỏi người luôn:
“Cho ta xem thử trí khôn của người”
