3. Chủ ngữ gíông nhau , ý mênh đề “that “ là phủ định có thể thay bằng cách nói dùng “too...to”



The girl is so young that she can't dress herself.

I was so tired that I couldn't go on with the work.

I was too tired to go on with the work.

4. Chủ ngữ không gíông nhau , ý mênh đề “that “ là khẳng định : dùng “too..... for .....to...” thay cho “so...that...”
The bag is so heavy that she can't move it.

The bag is too heavy for her to move.

It is so hot that we can't sleep.

It is too hot for us to sleep.

Một số cách dùng của “so”

 

1.so + be / do / can / have + S
You can answer the question. So can anybody else.
My father enjoys watching TV, and so does my mother.
He is an English teacher. So am I.

2.Neither/Nor+ be / do / can / have + S
—He doesn’t know Louise’s address. —Neither do I.
—He didn't pass the exam. Nor did I.

3so + S + be / do / can / have -> Đúng là như vậy, Đúng thế
—It was hot yesterday. —So it was.
—I finished my work. — B: So you did.

4S+do+so
—Have you handed in your composition? —I did so yesterday.did so = handed in my composition
Jack can jump over the fence. I”m not sure whether David can do so.do so = jump over the fence

5So it is (was) with+S2

1.John has gone home, and so it is with Ann. (=So has Ann)
2.Animals can’t live without air and water. So it is with plants. (=Neither /Nor can plants.)

1. So it is/was with…= It is/was the same with…

2.Có thể dùng So it is /was with... thay cho So (Neither /Nor) do( did / can...) + S
John speaks French. So it is with Jim. (=So does Jim.)
Animals can’t live without air and water. So it is with plants. (=Neither /Nor can plants.)
John has gone home, and so it is with Ann. (=So has Ann).

3.Chỉ dùng một cách : So it is /was with...( hoặc it is /was the same with...) trong c ác trường hợp sau :

-Phía trước gồm cả khẳng định và cả phủ định .
Lily likes singing, but doesn’t like dancing. So it is with Sara.

-Phía trước gồm nhiều động từ khác nhau .
Mike’s father is a good worker and helps others a lot. So it is with Mike.

-Phía trước gồm nhiều thì khác nhau
I used to play basketball and now I often play football. So it is with David.

-Phía trước gồm nhiều chủ ngữ thuộc nhiều mệnh đề khác nhau
Engels was born in Germany and German was his native language. So it was with Karl Marx.

6S+V( cách nhìn ý kiến) + so
Thường dùng với các động từ : think, believe, expect, suppose, imagine, guess, say, hope, fear, be afraid
—Is it going to rain tomorrow?—I think so. (= I think it is going to rain.)
—Will you be able to help us?—I hope so. (= I hope that I will be able to help you.)

Note:①V(-)+so ;②V(+)+not . Nhưng “hope, fear, be afraid” thường dùng “…+not”
—It won’t take long, will it? —No, I suppose not. (= No, I don’t suppose so.)
—Do you think the weather will turn fine this afternoon?
I am afraid not. (= I fear not.)
