I. Warm up: play game: jumped words

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and repeat

- Focus Ps’ attention on the letters colored differently in the words chair and where.

- Introduce the sounds /ch/ and /wh/.

- Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words.

- Play the recording a few times for Ps to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking

2. Listen and write

- Have Ps look at the sentences on page 22 and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank.

- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and fill the blanks.  

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers.

- Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the reading text.

3. Let’s chant

- Introduce the chant “Where’s the book?”

- Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words.

- Play the tape again for Ps to read each line of the Chant. Have Ps point to the corresponding words while they are repeating.

- Ask Ps to chant in choral and do the action.

- Call on one group to perform the song at the front of the class. The rest of the class sing the song and clap the rhythm.

- Have class chant again to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Read and tick

- T introduces the topic “you are going to read the paragraph to get informations to tick the suitable picture”.

- Have the Ps to identify the character in the picture.

- Ask Ps to read the paragraph and do the task (tick the suitable picture)

- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary

- Have Ps trade the answers in pairs for correction

- Call on some Ps to report their answers. Others listen and comment.

- Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the reading text.

- Have the whole class  read each sentence in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation

- Ask Ps to identify the characters in 2 pictures on page 24 and ask:

+ Who are they?

+ Where are they?

+ And What are they talking about?

- Teach some new words:

   any: bất cứ

+ Teacher read first as a model and ask the Ps to repeat

+ Have the Ps repeat in groups and individuals

- Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words.

- Play the recording a few times for pupils to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking

- Instruct Ps to translate the dialogue into Vietnamese.
