Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge:

- By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to ask and answer questions about someone is doing.

2. Skills:

- Develop Ps speaking and listening skills.

3. Language focus:

- Vocabulary: doing homework, singing, drawing, playing the piano, watching TV.

- Sentence patterns: Whats he/ she doing? - Hes/ Shes + V-ing.

II. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, puppets.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

I. Warm up: Play the game: Order the words

II. New lesson:

1. Look, listen and repeat

- Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about what someone is doing.

- Ask Ps to identify the characters in 2 pictures on page 54 and ask:

+ Who are they?

 

+ Where are they?

+ And What are they talking about?

- Teach some new words:

doing homework: làm bài tập ở nhà

 

+ Teacher read first as a model and ask the Ps to repeat

+ Have the Ps repeat in groups and individuals

- Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words.

- Play the recording a few times for pupils to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking

- Instruct Ss to translate the dialogue into Vietnamese.

2. Point and say

- Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and answering the question, using What is he/ she doing?

- Teach some new words:

singing: hát

drawing: vẽ

playing the piano: chơi đàn pi-a-nô

watching TV: xem ti vi

+ Teacher read first as a model and ask the Ps to repeat

+ Have the Ps repeat in groups and individuals

- Instruct how to ask and answer questions about someone is doing.

 

 

- T practices as a model and ask Ps to practice in choral, groups and pairs. Correct Ps’ error pronunciation

- Ask some questions to ensure Ps’ comprehension of the listening text.

- Play the recording a few times for Ps to listen and repeat.

- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking

2. Listen and write

- Have Ps look at the sentences on page 56 and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank.

- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and fill the blanks.  

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers.

- Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the reading text.

- Introduce the chant “What are you doing?

- Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words.

- Call on one group to perform the song at the front of the class. The rest of the class sing the song and clap the rhythm.

- Have class chant again to reinforce their pronunciation.

Ex: This is my friend. Her name is Lan. She is listening to music. What is your friend doing?

- Have the rest of the Ps stick their paintings on the walls of the classroom and choose the five best.
