Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3
I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge:
- By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to ask and answer questions about someone is doing.
2. Skills:
- Develop Ps speaking and listening skills.
3. Language focus:
- Vocabulary: doing homework, singing, drawing, playing the piano, watching TV.
- Sentence patterns: What’s he/ she doing? - He’s/ She’s + V-ing.
II. Teaching aids:
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, puppets.
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

I. Warm up: Play the game: Order the words II. New lesson: 1. Look, listen and repeat - Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about what someone is doing. - Ask Ps to identify the characters in 2 pictures on page 54 and ask: + Who are they?
+ Where are they? + And What are they talking about? - Teach some new words:
+ Teacher read first as a model and ask the Ps to repeat + Have the Ps repeat in groups and individuals - Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words. - Play the recording a few times for pupils to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking - Instruct Ss to translate the dialogue into Vietnamese. 2. Point and say - Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and answering the question, using What is he/ she doing? - Teach some new words:
+ Teacher read first as a model and ask the Ps to repeat + Have the Ps repeat in groups and individuals - Instruct how to ask and answer questions about someone is doing.
- T practices as a model and ask Ps to practice in choral, groups and pairs. Correct Ps’ error pronunciation Key:
- Tell Ps that they are going to practice more with their friends, using their own words. - Have Ps look at the pictures and check understanding by eliciting the words for pets. - Ask Ss to work in pairs. Call some pairs to act out. Correct their pronunciation. III. Consolidation: - Summary the lesson IV. Homework: - Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words |

Listen and write - Have Ps look at the sentences on page 56 and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank. - Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and fill the blanks. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. - Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the reading text. Key: 1.reading 2.drawing 3. Let’s chant - Introduce the chant “What are you doing?” - Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the words. - Play the tape again for Ps to read each line of the Chant. Have Ps point to the corresponding words while they are repeating. - Ask Ps to chant in choral and do the action. - Call on one group to perform the song at the front of the class. Ex: This is my friend. Her name is Lan. She is listening to music. What is your friend doing? - Have the rest of the Ps stick their paintings on the walls of the classroom and choose the five best. III. Consolidation - Have the class say the “What are you doing?” chant and sing the song “I love my parents”. IV. Homework - Do exercises in workbook, prepare next period. |
