  - Play an alphabet game. Write the letters Aa- Mm on the board.

  - Say the name and sound of the first letter of the alphabet (a /æ/)

  - Continue in this way until you reach the letter Mm.

  - Draw two circles to the right of the first circle. Point to each circle as you say One, two. Write the number 2 under them, again following the directional arrows in the book.

  - Write the word one under the number 1 on the board. Repeat with number two.

  -  Ask ss to open their books and point to the zebra under the figure 1 and ask How many zebras? SS respond one. Repeat with lions.

II.Practice: 

Listen and draw

-         Draw a butterfly on the board. Ask What is this? SS say A butterfly. Repeat with a bird, lion, zebra, iguana, elephant.

-         Tell ss they are going to listen the CD. SS listen and point to the animals they hear.

-         Play CD, pausing after each line.

-         Check that ss are pointing to the correct part of the picture.

I. Warm - up:    

- Review the words for the feeling. Hold up the flashcard of the cold child ask: Is she cold? Children respond: Yes, she is

- Hold up the flashcard of the happy child and ask Is he sad? Children respond: No, he isn’t. He’s happy.

- Repeat with the other feeling flashcards.

II  Practice  :   

1. Listen and Say

- Looking at pages 16 and 17 of the CB ask in their mother tongue how Tess is (She’s cold).

Listen to the CD to check out the answer

- Listen to the audition again stopping after each phrase for the children to repeat in group and individually.

2. Say and do

- Show the hot flashcard.

Call a child to the front of the class and ask him/her to pretend to be very hot.

-  Ask him/her Are you hot? and encourage them to answer Yes, I am.

- Repeat with different flashcards and other children

- Call another child to the front of the class, hand him/her the hot flashcard and ask Are you cold? For him/her to answer No, I’m not. I’m hot

- Repeat with other flashcards and other children.

I. Warm - up:    

- Review the sound and name the letter s and h

- Ask ss to tell something beginning with s in English

- Repeat with the letter h.

2. Pre - teach vocabulary:  

- sheep: picture

- shoes: visual

- fish: picture

II  Practice  :   

  1. Listen and Say

- Show the sheep flashcard and say sheep for children to repeat in group and individually. Put the flashcard on the board.

- Write the sh digraph under the flashcard, point to it and pronounce /ʃ/ sheep. Write the word sheep under. Repeat with the flashcard for shoes

- Introduce the word fish drawing one on the board. Write sh under the drawing.

Point to it and pronounce /ʃ/ fish. Write fish under

- Call a child to the board to underline sh in each word. Explain that although letters s and h sound different when they are separate, when they are together, they form the /ʃ/ sound

- Ask the children to notice the digraph sh on p. 18 of their books.  Write sh with a finger in the air imitating the teacher

- Practise tracing the letters in the CB with a finger

- Ask them to say names of people beginning with sh and give some examples of names in English

2. Sing and find

- Listen to the song on the CD

- Listen again to the song stopping after each phrase for the children to repeat and point to what they hear in their book.

- Listen to the song and sing

- Pronounce sheep and ask the children to find it and point to it in the picture at the bottom of p. 18 of the CB. Repeat with fish and shoes

-Asks Ss questions about the story in Vietnamese : Who are the children?(Tess, Baz and Adam) What day of the week is it ?(Saturday) What are the children doing ? (They are playing a ball)...

-Plays the CD and pause between each frame;asks Ss to tell T in their own language what they understood ( Play the CD again if necessary)

- Writes  all the letters on the board in capital and lower case form.

-Points to each letter as Ss say its name and sound.

-Leaves the letters on the board

-Tells Ss to look at pages 12-13 in their books and asks them what they can see on the pages

-Tells Ss that they are going hear a sound and letter name.

1. Look and say:

-Draws an apple on the board. Asks What’s this?

-Asks Ss what letter and sound apple begins with (a,/æ)

-Asks Ss to find the  apple on the page

-Asks Ss to look at the person above the apple.Points to her and asks Who’s this?

-Asks Ss the name and sound of  the  first letter in Tess’s name (T, /t/)

-Reviews the names of all the pictures in the same way.(or supports the questions with drawings on the board or real objects).

2. Play the game: 

-Devides the class into small groups and gives each group a coin

-Tells Ss that they will each take a turn to drop the coin onto their book .They will say the name and sound of the letter the coin has landed on, and then they have to say the name of the picture on the page beginning with that sound

-Models the activity for the Ss

-Puts Ss into groups and lets them play the game

- Writes the word three under the number 3 on the board. Repeats with the circles for four and five.

- Asks Ss to open their books at page 14. Points to the seesaws  under the figure 3 and asks How many seesaws?

- Repeats with rabbits and nuts

-Draws a kite on the board. Asks What’ s this?

-Repeats with boy, girl, chair and yo-yo

-Tells Ss to look at the picture at the bottom of page 14

-Asks Ss to open their books at page 20. Points to the bags  under the figure 6 and asks. How many bags?
