  - Play an alphabet game. Write the letters Aa- Mm on the board.

  - Say the name and sound of the first letter of the alphabet (a /æ/)

  - Continue in this way until you reach the letter Mm.

  - Draw two circles to the right of the first circle. Point to each circle as you say One, two. Write the number 2 under them, again following the directional arrows in the book.

  - Write the word one under the number 1 on the board. Repeat with number two.

  -  Ask ss to open their books and point to the zebra under the figure 1 and ask How many zebras? SS respond one. Repeat with lions.

II.Practice: 

Listen and draw

-         Draw a butterfly on the board. Ask What is this? SS say A butterfly. Repeat with a bird, lion, zebra, iguana, elephant.

-         Tell ss they are going to listen the CD. SS listen and point to the animals they hear.

-         Play CD, pausing after each line.

-         Check that ss are pointing to the correct part of the picture.

I. Warm - up:    

- Review the words for the feeling. Hold up the flashcard of the cold child ask: Is she cold? Children respond: Yes, she is

- Hold up the flashcard of the happy child and ask Is he sad? Children respond: No, he isn’t. He’s happy.

- Repeat with the other feeling flashcards.

II  Practice  :   

1. Listen and Say

- Looking at pages 16 and 17 of the CB ask in their mother tongue how Tess is (She’s cold).

-  Listen to the CD to check out the answer

- Listen to the audition again stopping after each phrase for the children to repeat in group and individually.

2. Say and do

- Show the hot flashcard.

-  Call a child to the front of the class and ask him/her to pretend to be very hot.

-  Ask him/her Are you hot? and encourage them to answer Yes, I am.

- Repeat with different flashcards and other children

- Call another child to the front of the class, hand him/her the hot flashcard and ask Are you cold? For him/her to answer No, I’m not. I’m hot

- Repeat with other flashcards and other children.

I. Warm - up:    

- Review the sound and name the letter s and h

- Ask ss to tell something beginning with s in English

- Repeat with the letter h.

2. Pre - teach vocabulary:  

- sheep: picture

- shoes: visual

- fish: picture

II  Practice  :   

1. Listen and Say

- Show the sheep flashcard and say sheep for children to repeat in group and individually. Put the flashcard on the board.

- Write the sh digraph under the flashcard, point to it and pronounce /ʃ/ sheep. Write the word sheep under. Repeat with the flashcard for shoes

- Introduce the word fish drawing one on the board. Write sh under the drawing.

-  Point to it and pronounce /ʃ/ fish. Write fish under

- Call a child to the board to underline sh in each word. Explain that although letters s and h sound different when they are separate, when they are together, they form the /ʃ/ sound

- Ask the children to notice the digraph sh on p. 18 of their books.  Write sh with a finger in the air imitating the teacher

- Practise tracing the letters in the CB with a finger

- Ask them to say names of people beginning with sh and give some examples of names in English

- Listen to the song on the CD

- Listen again to the song stopping after each phrase for the children to repeat and point to what they hear in their book.

- Pronounce sheep and ask the children to find it and point to it in the picture at the bottom of p. 18 of the CB. Repeat with fish and shoes

-Asks Ss questions about the story in Vietnamese : Who are the children?(Tess, Baz and Adam) What day of the week is it ?(Saturday) What are the children doing ? (They are playing a ball)...

-Plays the CD and pause between each frame;asks Ss to tell T in their own language what they understood ( Play the CD again if necessary)

         -    Call a girl to the front. Say She or He? And look qizzical. Say Yes, She. She’s Chi. Remind ss that they can use he to talk boys or men and she to talk about girls or women.

- Writes  all the letters on the board in capital and lower case form.

-Points to each letter as Ss say its name and sound.

-Leaves the letters on the board

1. Listen and point:

-Tells Ss to look at pages 12-13 in their books and asks them what they can see on the pages

-Tells Ss that they are going hear a sound and letter name.

-Plays the  first sound (/k/,C) and pauses the CD. Points to the Cc on the board

-Plays the Cd, pauses to checks that Ss are pointing to the correct letter

-Erases all the letters from the board

2 Pre- teach vocabulary

II. Practice  :

1. Look and say:

-Draws an apple on the board. Asks What’s this?

-Asks Ss what letter and sound apple begins with (a,/æ)

-Asks Ss to find the  apple on the page

-Asks Ss to look at the person above the apple.Points to her and asks Who’s this?

-Asks Ss the name and sound of  the  first letter in Tess’s name (T, /t/)

-Reviews the names of all the pictures in the same way.(or supports the questions with drawings on the board or real objects).

2. Play the game: 

-Devides the class into small groups and gives each group a coin

-Tells Ss that they will each take a turn to drop the coin onto their book .They will say the name and sound of the letter the coin has landed on, and then they have to say the name of the picture on the page beginning with that sound

-Models the activity for the Ss

-Puts Ss into groups and lets them play the game

- Points to each number  and says its name .

- Writes the word three under the number 3 on the board. Repeats with the circles for four and five.

- Asks Ss to open their books at page 14. Points to the seesaws  under the figure 3 and asks How many seesaws?

- Repeats with rabbits and nuts

-Draws a kite on the board. Asks What’ s this?

-Repeats with boy, girl, chair and yo-yo

-Tells Ss to look at the picture at the bottom of page 14

-Says count the girls

-Repeats with boys (2),chairs(4)…

 B.Content:

I. Presentation:

1. Warm –up:               .     

2. Pre – teach vocabulary:

  - clap your hands: vỗ tay     ( mime)

  - stamp your feet: dậm chân ( mime)

3. Look and say: 10ms

-Reviews the words for the feelings with the flashcards.Puts the flashcards on the board

-Points to the flashcard for happy. Asks Is he happy?

-Repeats with the other flashcards

-Tells Ss to look at page 19 in their books and asks them to tell which feelings they can see illustrated (happy, sad)     

II. Practice:

1. Sing: 10ms

-Asks Ss to tell you in Vietnamese what is happening in the picture

(They are dancing and playing)

-Reminds Ss of the phrase clap your hands.Says clap your hands and then does the action

-Presents the phrase stamp your feet by saying the phrase and doing the action. Calls a student to the front and says stamp your feet. Encourages the student to do the action

-Plays the CD.Tells Ss to listen to the song

-Plays the CD  again and pauses after each line.Sings the line and tells Ss to repeat after you and do the actions as they sing

-Plays the CD again and asks Ss to sing the song as they do the actions

2. Sing and do: 

-Gives the flashcards of happy and sad to two children. Explains that they will do the actions when they hear their flashcard called

-Sing the song with the class

-Repeats with other children holding the flashcards and doing the actions

III. Further practice:

  Ask ss to do exercises in their activities book

1. Colour the sh fish
2. Colour the pictures with the sh sound

III. Homework:

A.Aims: By the end of the lesson Sts will be able to identify, write and use the numbers 6, 7 and 8

* Teaching aids:  pictures

* Ways of working:  individual, pair work, group work

B. Content:

I. Presentation

1. Warm up:  

                      Game:     Kim's game.

  - Have a picture with a lot of things.

  - Review numbers from 1- 5

2. Pre teach vocabulary:

- six

- seven

- eight

II. Practice:

 -Reviews the numbers 1-8

-Writes a number line on the board with some missing numbers

-Points to the numbers on the board

-Calls Ss to the front to write the missing numbers

-Tells Ss that they are going to learn to write the words for more numbers in English

-Draws six circles on the board. Says six.Writes the number 6 under them.  Follows the directional arrows in the book

-Draws seven cirlces to the right of the six circle.Points to each cirlce as saying One, two, three, four,etc. Writes the number 7 under them

-Repeats with the number 8

-Points to each number  and says its name .

-Writes the word eight  under the number 8 on the board. Repeats with the circles for six and seven

-Asks Ss to open their books at page 20. Points to the bags  under the figure 6 and asks. How many bags?

-Repeats with coats and jumpers

2. Find and count: 8 ms

-Holds up the picture and asks What’ s this?

-Reviews the word boy by pointing to a child and asking Is (name of the boy) a boy?

-Reviews the word girl in the same way

-Tells Ss to look at the picture at the bottom of page 20

-Says count the boys

-Repeats with girls (1), pictures (4), coats (5), bags (6). Jumpers (7)

III. Further practice

-Holds up six pencils and asks How many pencils?

-Repeats with other known items , eg . books, pencil boxes, rubbers, bags, windows, etc…

- Ask ss to do exercises in their activity books.

          By the end of the lesson sts will be able to  develop listening skills in English and understand the story,to develop fine motor control             

* Teaching aids:  realia, posters

* Ways of working:  individual, pair work, group work

B. Content:

I. Presentation:

1. Warm up:  

   Play a game: Find numbers

2. Look and say:

--Tells Ss to open their books at page 21

-Tells Ss that English stories are presented from left to right , holds up the book and point at the frames in order

-Asks Ss questions about the story in Vietnamese : What is the boy doing in the picture 1 ? (He is eating) ;What is he doing in the picture 2? (He is drinking) ;Is he cold in the picture 3? ( No, he isn’t .He is hot) ; Is he hungry at the end of the story? ( No, He isn’t)

2. Practice:     

  1. Listen

-Tells Ss to listen to the story

-Plays the CD and pause between each frame;asks Ss to tell T in their own language what they understood ( Play the CD again if necessary)             

  2. Listen and act

-Plays the CD again , pauses after each frame, lets Ss repeat.

-Puts the flashcard for hungry, thirsty and hot on the board

- Calls five Ss to the front to model the story with you.Asks one student to be the boy and the others to be the other people in the story

- Prompts the student playing the boy  stand under each flashcard as it is mentioned in the story

- Ask ss to do exercises in their activity book

1.  Learn the sound

-Show the flashcard of thumb and say thumb for the children to repeat in group and individually. Put the flashcard on the board (Learn the sound CB p. 24).

-Write the digraph th under the flashcard. Point to it and pronounce /θ/ thumb. Write the word thumb under. Repeat with the bath flashcard

-Repeat with the throw flashcard

-Call a child to the board for him/her to underline th in each word. Explain that although letters t and h have different sounds separately, when they are together they form the /θ/ sound

-Ask the children to notice the th digraph on p. 24 of their books.  Write th with a finger in the air imitating the teacher

-Practise tracing over the letters in the CB with a finger

-Ask them to say names of people beginning with Th and give some examples of names in English

 2. Sing

-Listen to the song on the CD

-Listen again to the song stopping after each phrase for the children to repeat and point to what they hear in the book.

-Listen to the song for a third time for children to sing it

3. Find

-Pronounce bath and ask the children to find it and point to it in the picture at the bottom of p. 24 of the CB. Repeat with thumbs and throw

-Points to the flashcard for jump. Says  I can jump and do the action

-Repeats with the other flashcards

-Tells Ss to look at page 25 in their books and asks them to tell which of the actions they can see illustrated (throw, catch, sing, count, kick, climb, jump)

-Asks Ss what the boy behind the tree is doing, and teaches or revises the word hide

2. Sing:

-Asks Ss to tell you in Vietnamese what is happening in the picture (They are playing and doing the actions)

-Reminds Ss of the phrase count to five .Says count to five and then holds up the fingers and says the numbers

-Reminds Ss of the phrase run and hide. Says run and hide and then moves quickly and hides behind the table

-Tells Ss that they are going to learn a song with all the actions

-Plays the CD.Tells Ss to listen to the song

-Plays the CD  again and pauses after each line.Sings the line and tells Ss to repeat after you

-Plays the CD again and asks Ss to sing the song

III. Further practice

-Gives the flashcards for  jump, climb, sing, throw, kick and catch to six children. Explains that they will hold up their flashcard when they hear it called.

-Calls two more Ss to the front. Tells one of them to hold up five fingers for count to five and the other to bend down behind the table for run and hide

-Sing the song with the class

-Repeats with other children holding the flashcards and doing the actions

-Points to each picture and asks  What’s this?

-Tells Ss to look at the picture at the bottom of page 26

-Says count the butterflies

-Repeats with donkeys (1), goats (2), ducks (9), eggs (10).

(Playing with a ball, kicking and catching it) ;Is Baz good at kicking and catching ( No, he isn’t.) ; Is Baz good at anything? ( Yes, He is. He can climb)

-Plays the CD and pause between each frame; asks Ss to tell T in their own language what they understood ( Play the CD again if necessary)
