Lesson 1: Part 1-2

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can use the phrases related to the topic Daily routines.

- Pupils can ask and answer questions about time.

- Pupils can develop listening and speaking skills.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Sing an English song

A. Presentation

1. Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Point each character and elicit pupils’ answers: Who are they? What are they talking about? Get pupils to repeat the new word a few times.

Step 2: Playing the recording all the way through for the class to listen and repeat line by line.

B. Practice

2. Point and say

Step 1: Point to each picture and ask the question What’s time is it? for pupils to answer.

Step 2: Have pupils practice asking and answering in pairs.

Step 3: Invite one or two pairs to speak to check.

C. Application

Step 1: Prepare the next period: Unit 11: Lesson 1: Part 3,4,5

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can use the phrases related to the topic Daily routines.

- Pupils can ask and answer questions about time.

- Pupils can develop listening and writing skills.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play Bingo

A. Presentation

3. Listen and tick

Step 1: Have them look at the pictures. Check understanding.

Step 2: Playing the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and tick the problem of each character.

Step 3: Play it again for them to check their answers.

B. Practice

Step 1: Give pupils a few seconds to look at the clock..

Step 2: Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently.

Step 3: Get pupils to compare their answers in pair before checking as a class.

Step 1: Have pupils read the lyrics and teach the unfamiliar words.

Step 5: Invite a group to sing the song and do actions.

D. Application

Step 1: Sing the song with your family.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Have the class sing What time is it?

A. Presentation

1. Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Have pupils look at the four pictures. Check understanding.

Step 2: Playing the recording all the way through for the class to listen.

Step 3: Play it again for pupils to repeat the lines in the bubbles.

B. Practice

2. Point and say

Step 1: Point to each picture and ask What time do you get up? for pupils to answer I get up at six o’clock.

Step 3: Ask pupils to work in pairs.

Step 4: Invite one or two pairs to speak to check.

C. Production

3. Let’s talk

Step 1: Set a time limit for the class to practice.

Step 2: Invite one or two pairs to act out their conversations.

D. Application

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Spend a few minutes having the class revise the story in Activity 1.

Step 1: Look at the pictures. Check understanding.

Step 2: Playing the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and do the task.

Step 3: Get them to compare their answers.

Step 4: Play the recording again to confirm the answers.

B. Practice

5. Draw and write the time

Step 1: Ask them look at the questions. Check understanding.

Step 2: Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently.

Step 3: Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class.

Step 2: Have the class play the game in groups of six. Set a time limit for them to play the game.

- Pupils can pronounce the sounds of the letters oo in the word cook and noon respectively.

- Pupils can develop listening and writing skills.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play game

A. Presentation

1. Listen and repeat

Step 1: Put the letters oo on the board..

Step 2: Playing the recording all the way through for pupils to listen.

Step 3: Play it again for them to repeat all the words and sentences twice.

B. Practice

2. Listen and write. Then say aloud

Step 1: Ask pupils to read the sentences in silent.

Step 2: Playing the recording all the way through for pupils to listen.

Step 3: Play it again for them to do the task.

Step 4: Check their answers. Then ask pupils to read the sentences aloud.

- Pupils can develop reading and writing skills.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Have the class say the What time do you go to school? chant.

A. Presentation

4. Read and complete

Step 1: Give a few seconds for pupils to read the text in silence.

Step 2: Give pupils time to do the task, swap and correct their answers.

Step 1: Have them work in pairs to discuss.
