I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction.

- Pupils can greet others and introduction themselves, using Hello/Hi. I’m + (name)

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Greet the class by saying Hello. Have pupils repeat it one or twice.

A. Presentation

1. Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Point to the first picture and elicit the answers of who the characters are. Have pupils repeat the text in the bubbles a few times.

Step 2: Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.

Step 3: Play recording for pupils to listen and say along.

B. Practice

2. Point and say

Step 1: Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaps. Pupils repeat the sentences a few times.

Step 2: Do choral and individual repetition.

Step 3: Get pupils to work in pair. Check as a class.

C. Production

3. Let’s talk

Step 1: Point to each character eliciting the name. Fill the gaps and write the sentences. Get pupils to repeat the sentences a few times.

Step 2: Get pupils to work in pairs.

Step 3: Call a few pairs to act out the greeting and responses in front of the class.

*Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising Hello/Hi and I’m + (name)

Step 1: Show pupils how to carry out the task and tick the box. Elicit the names of the characters. Have pupils repeat them once and twice.

Step 2: Play the recording three times for pupils to listen, do the task and check their answers.

Step 3: Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

Step 1: Give pupils a few seconds to read the text in silence.

Step 2: Give pupils time to do the task.

Step 3: Check their answers before writing the correct answers.

Step 1: Ask pupils read the lyrics and check comprehension. Play the recording to sing the song all the way through.

- Pupils can greet and response to greetings, using How are you? And I’m fine, thanks. And you?

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by calling some individuals to come the front to greet the class and say their names.

A. Presentation

Step 1: Elicit the names of the characters in the pictures. Have pupils repeat the language a few times.

Step 2: Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.

Step 3: Play recording for pupils to listen and say along.

B. Practice

Step 1: Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaps. Pupils repeat the sentences a few times.

Step 2: Do choral and individual repetition.

Step 3: Get pupils to work in pair. Check as a class.

- Pupils can say goodbye, using Goodbye/Bye!

- Pupils can develop listening, reading and writing skills.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play game “Slap the board”.

Step 1: Show pupils how to number the box.

Step 2: Play the recording three times for pupils to listen, do the task and check their answers.

Step 3: Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

- Pupils can pronounce the sounds of the letters b and h in the words bye and hello respectively.

- Pupils can develop listening, reading and writing skills.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising Hi/Hello. How are you? And I’m fine, thanks/thank you. And you?

A. Presentation

1. Listen and repeat

Step 1: Put the phonics letters b and h on the board and say them a few times.

Step 2: Ask pupils to repeat. Prompt pupils to say the words and sentences.

Step 3: Do choral and repetition of the words and sentences.

B. Practice    

2. Listen and write

Step 1: Give pupils a few seconds to read the text in silence.

Step 2: Have pupils swap and check their answers.

Step 3: Get pupils to work in pairs and practice saying the sentence.

Step 1: Read the chant and check comprehension.

Step 2: Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. Show pupils how to chant and do the actions.
