I.OBJECTIVES: By the end of this Unit, students can:
Use the lexical items related to the topic “My New School”
Pronounce correctly the sounds /əʊ / and /ʌ/ in isolation and in context
Do exercises given.

1. Organization: (1’)
- Greeting/ asking the total.
2. Checking the old lesson: (5’)
- Call 1 St to show their drawing pictures’ products on the board and practice saying the words.
- other Ss remark.
3. New lesson.: (31’)
* Activity 1: Vocabulary
- Let Ss look at the picture and guess what they are doing.
- Play the recording and let Ss listen.
-Play it again and pause for them to repeat each word. Correct their pronunciation
- explain some new words
2. Put the words in 1 into groups
-Let Ss work in pairs. They have to put the words in 1 into groups.
- Then check their answer.
- Explain to them which words go with each verb

3. Put one of these words in each blank
-Ask Ss to write sentences about themselves in their notebooks, using the combinations above
4. Write sentences about yourself
- Guide Ss how to do the task.( They can write as many sentences as possible)
- Ask some Ss to present before class. ( Guide Ss to do this exercise at home.)
* Activity 2:Pronunciation /əʊ/ and /ʌ/
- Introduce the the sounds /əʊ / and /ʌ/
- Ask Ss to observe the T’s lip positions for these two sounds.
/əʊ / : go, open….
/ʌ/: Monday, mother…..
-Let Ss practice the sounds /əʊ / and /ʌ/ together.
- Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and repeat.
- Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and repeat. --Play the recording as many times as necessary.
-Play the recording twice.
-Allow Ss to work individually. Then let them check their answers in groups.
-T may call some Ss to write their answers on the board. Correct their mistakes
-Play the recording. Let Ss repeat sentences.
- Help them recognize the two sounds, then underline them in the sentences
4. Feedback. (5’)
- Ask Ss to give out some words with the sounds /əʊ / and /ʌ/
- Ask Ss to repeat what things they have learnt from the lesson.
5.Homework: (3’)
-Practice vocabulary and pronunciation of 2 sounds/əʊ / and /ʌ/ again
-Make 5 sentences with new words
-Prepare A CLOSER LOOK 2
