Objectives:
Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
- use vocabulary items related to the hobbies.
- guess the meanings of words based on contexts
- scan for specific information about the Asian Games
Language focus:
-Language: Vocabulary concerning the hobbies such as keep fish, fish tank, accomplish, collect stamps guitarist, accompany, modest, avid, discarded, indulge in, keep one’s occupied,…
-Grammar: revise the present simple.
Skills:
- Guessing meaning in context
- Scan for specific information to do tasks

-Problem: SS may have little knowledge about hobbies
-Solution: Pre- teaching a few new words

List all the things people often do in their free time.

Collecting stamps, reading books, listening to music, going shopping, ….

- divide class into 4 groups
- ask Ss to work in groups to list all the things people do in the free time in 3 minutes
- Ask them to write down their answers on the board.

- Sum up and lead in

- Work in groups to discuss.

II. Pre- reading

What are the names of the hobbies described in the pictures?
What do you like to do in your free time? Why?
