Lesson 2

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss  will be able to ask and answer about the weekly activities.

2. Skills:

- Develop Ss speaking and listening and writing skills.

3. Language focus:

- Sentence PatternsWhat do you do on + (name of the day) ?

                                - I +(activity) + in the morning/ afternoon.

- Vocabulary: help, visit, play the guitar, in the morning, in the afternoon..

II. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, projector and sub - board.

Game: Slap the board

- Put 7 pictures of 7 days a week on the board, read and Ss repeat.

- Divide the class into 2 groups

- Give the instruction: 2 Ss of 2 groups go to the board. When T says the name of day, Ss have to slap the picture of that day. The Ss who slaps the right picture faster will get 1 points for his/her group. (7 pairs slap 7 pictures)

- Use pictures to explain the meaning of the words

- Read and Ss repeat a few times (chorally and individually)

- Set the scene: "Quan and Nam are in the canteen. Quan asks Nam what Nam does on Fridays, Nam answers. Then Nam asks Quan what Quan does on Saturdays, Quan answers"

- Let Ss listen to the recording and point to the characters speaking

- Let Ss listen again and repeat a few times (chorally and individually) to reinforce the pronunciation.

- Practise the conversation with 1 Ss

 

- Get Ss to work in pairs to practise the conversation. T moves around to help Ss and correct mistakes

- Call on 2 pairs to make the conversation in front of class, others give comments, T corrects pronunciation mistakes.

 

* Sentence patterns:

- Elicit sentence patterns from Ss

What do you do on Fridays?

I go to school in the morning, I help my parents in the afternoon.

- Elicit the use of the sentence patterns from Ss

- Ask Ss to give some examples.

 

- Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering about weekly activities.

- Let Ss look at the table in the books and repeat the words in each row.

- Do examples with a Ss ( T asks - Ss answers, then Ss asks - T answers)

- Have Ss work in pairs to ask and answer the questions, using the given text in the bubbles and the information in the table.

- Invite 3 pairs to act out the exchanges.

- Give feedbacks

- Change the role: T answers

- Get Ss to work in pairs to ask using the questions

- Let Ss look at the pictures and identify each activity.

- Explain to Ss the task: number the pictures focusing on the order of the dialogues as they hear them.

- Have Ss guess the answers

 

- Ask Ss to listen (more than once, if necessary)

- Have Ss swap their answers before checking as a class.

 

- Let Ss look at the timetable and read the text, then check comprehension

- Ask Ss to complete the text, using the given information.
