UNIT 1: MY HOMELAND

Section A: A1-2-3 (Ps. 10-11)

 

*Goals: - Provide ss with some vocabulary about countries.

     - Help ss speak, ask and answer where someone is from.

*Objectives: 

- Knowledge:

      +Vocabulary: America, Singapore, England            

+Grammar:   I am from Vietnam.

                      Where are you from?

                                        I’m from Vietnam / Singapore....

- Skill: ss speak, ask and answer where someone is from fluently          

- Attitude: ss are happy and crazy, love Vietnam and other countries

*Materials:   poster,stereo, cassette, puppet, wordcard

I. Warm up and review

- Ask ss some questions about their summer holiday

- Have ss sing “Alice, the camel” song

II. Presentation

1. Pre-teach vocabulary

  • America (example)
  • Singapore (situation)
  • England (translation)

2. Present the dialogue

- Hang the poster on the board

- Ask ss to identify the characters

- Order ss to guess the content of the dialogue between Peter and Alan

- Ask ss to listen to the dialogue

- Order ss to repeat each sentence

3. Present the new question and answer

*Asking where sb is from

Eg: Where are you from?

       I’m from Vietnam / England…..

III. Practice

- Run through all the wordcards

T: Where are you from?

T: I’m from America.

- Divide the class into two groups to ask and answer

G1: Where are you from?

G2: I’m from Vietnam.

- Order ss to ask and answer with their partners

S1: Where are you from?

S2: I’m from Singapore.

- Call some pairs to speak

- Divide the class into groups of two ss to play the roles of Peter and Alan to speak dialogues

*Goals:  - Introduce to ss about the capitals of the countries they learnt and their

                 famous places

     - Help ss listen to understand the situations of the characters in the pictures

         to check the pictures which are spoken about.

      - Help ss practise pronuncing through the letters wh, fr and e in the

         words they learned.

      - Help ss write about where they are from or sb is from.

*Objectives: 

- Knowledge:

      +Vocabulary:  Capitals: Washington D.C, London, Singapore city

                                             Famous places: Big Ben,The Statue of Liberty, Mot Cot
